Katrina Shafer, owner of Caring Touch Massage Therapy,
grew up in New York State, received an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Mount Saint Mary College and graduated from The Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Katrina discovered massage after a close friend was injured
in an auto accident and witnessed firsthand how massage contributed to her friend's recovery. While at The Bancroft School, Katrina made healthy changes to her life by losing weight and becoming an athlete. These changes helped her decide to work with athletes and their injuries.
Her personal experience with sports and the desire to understand how the body works to maximize athletic performance helps her stand out form other sports and deep tissue therapists. Katrina runs, plays golf, competes in marathons, sprint/olympic/half triathalons and works out in intensive Crossfit sessions daily.
Katrina is a member of The American Massage Therapy Association and is licensed by the State of Massachusetts as well as Level One certified in Thai and Pregnancy massages. Additional coursework has included Orthopedic Massage, Muscle Release Technique, Cranial Sacral Techniques and Myofascial Release. She has daily, practical experience working with chronic low back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, plantar fascitis, headaches, repetitive use injuries, knee pain, frozen shoulder and many other ailments.
As a true believer in the benefits of massage, Katrina is happy to be "living her dream and doing what she is most passionate about."
